Bicoastal.com was launched in 1996 during the infancy of the Worldwide Web. That same year, company owner Chris Kilbourne–a journalist and lawyer by training–was asked to help build and then manage the first website for the Bergen Record newspaper in New Jersey. Chris later moved on to Philly.com, where he managed the websites for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News, rising to the position of Executive Producer.
In 2001, Chris returned to Connecticut to help design and manage the subscription websites at Business & Legal Resources (BLR), where he remained until 2010. While there, Chris helped grow BLR’s online products into the company’s largest revenue source. He also managed email newsletters with a combined circulation of more than 375,000, helped develop the company’s intranet, and planned and implemented the company’s social media strategy, including creating pages and groups on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube.
